The Ubiquitous Mr. Wein

Len Wein’s death, last week, affected me on a very personal level.  More than any of the other recent deaths from industry legends.  I didn’t bother to eulogize Mr. Wein because others did it more effectively than I could have.  His numerous credits and awards were well documented.  Everyone knows he was the co-creator of Wolverine, Swamp Thing and many of the second wave of X-men.  There is no point in me rehashing all of that. Farewell Titan. Bernie Wrightson, 1948-2017

We learned, this morning, that legendary artist Bernie Wrightson had lost his battle to cancer.  We don’t use the word “legendary” lightly.  Even the most cursory examination of his career will show that this is not just feel-good hyperbole.  We have lost a true giant and the world is lessened without him in it. Bernie Wrightson Retires

For those of you who missed the announcement… JANUARY 30, 2017   Dear Fans and Friends, I apologize for our silence for the past few months. Last November Bernie began falling again, and having obvious problems with perception. He had to undergo yet another brain surgery to relieve bleeding, and then spend several weeks undergoing in-patient rehabilitation. Unfortunately, it appears that he has lasting damage: he has extremely limited function on his left side, and is unable to walk or reliably use his left hand, among other limitations. We have…
