Back Where They Belong

I guess it’s a good news, bad news situation.  I’m almost always violently opposed to mega-mergers.  Especially when they involve media companies.  Consolidating media outlets means that our access to information gets choked even more than it already is.  Soon we will wind up with only a few billionaires deciding what thoughts and opinions are worthy of airtime.  When that happens, we are fucked. Cognizant of the dystopian future we are slouching towards, I must admit I am doing (figurative) handsprings over the news that Disney has gobbled up Fox. …

Yes, Please!

I have nothing to add today except speculation but boy is it tasty.  We learned some time ago that Peter Dinklage had been added to the cast of Avengers: Infinity War but there had been no word as to who he was portraying.  Initial rumors that he was to play M.O.D.O.K. turned out to be just that, rumors.  Now, some folks are putting it about that he is to voice the character Arsenal.  However….. The word last week was that Mr. Dinklage was seen sporting a red hairdo.  Now, this…

Only God Can Save You Now

I’ve said a lot of vicious things about Zack Snyder in the past but that’s only because I despise him for taking several very loud, monochrome dumps on characters that I hold very dear.  Despite my antipathy for the man and his “vision”, I would never have wished the sort of personal tragedy he is going through to have been visited upon him.  Losing a child is a horror most of us cannot even fathom.  All biting sarcasm and shit talking aside.  Seriously, we feel for the guy. Principal photography…

Marvel Misses

I read a couple of recent articles in which Marvel exec David Gabriel stated that issues of Marvel titles featuring women and ethnically diverse characters just weren’t selling well. He was quoted as saying, “people didn’t want any more diversity. They didn’t want female characters out there.” In effect, titles starring or featuring female characters front and center weren’t selling, and by extension, dragging down overall sales figures for the entire line. Well, it’s starting to emerge that this is pretty much a big pile of horseshit. Marvel has always had a…

Circle The Hard-Ons

Let’s get one thing straight, right up front, media critics are, for the most part, cunts.  The professionals are mostly just frustrated wannabe screenwriters or, even worse, directors.  They want to be in the business so bad they can taste it.  The other half, the fanboys (hello, that’s me) spend their time bitching about how “Blah-Blah-Blah is not the movie I would have made.”  So, understand, they have all been sharpening their pens and buffing their hard-ons, waiting for Marvel to stumble.  At long last, the Marvel Netflix series, Iron…

2016 sucked. Apropos of nothing, here are my predictions for 2017. Misty Knight will be the new Captain America. By July, DC will be making noises about rebooting one of their major characters yet again. Bruce Banner will come back from the dead…again. Thanos will continue to be overused. Amadeus Cho will continue to be a tool. Moon Knight will continue to be brilliant…and then be cancelled. Doctor Strange will be cancelled by October. Kamala Khan will experience violent prejudice first hand.  My money says her brother gets attacked or…

You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down

After petitions, Twitter activism and much hand-wringing, it was announced that Peggy Carter, our favorite SSR Agent and founder of SHIELD, will be returning to television. But in a way no one would have expected. Disney and Marvel have released news of a single-episode appearance of Agent Carter in the animated series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble’s fourth season, entitled Avengers: Secret Wars. While there are not many details, it’s been revealed that she and Howard Stark (sadly, no Jarvis) will guest star in an episode described as “past and present collide” when…

Marvel Update

Well… If you’re like me, there were a couple of bits of disappointing news in the world of the MCU this week. I’ll be brief, or as brief as a verbose Kittenn such as myself can be. So here we go. First, my heartfelt dream of seeing Katee Sackhoff don the red, blue and gold of Captain Marvel was pretty much dashed at the announcement at SDCC that Brie Larson had indeed been cast in the role. Who knows? Maybe I’m wrong. She might be perfect for the role. And…

SDCC Special: Welcome to the Trailer Park

As is usual during San Diego Comic Con, every studio and their grandmothers puts out trailers for movies and television shows. This year is no exception. And there are about a million of them. Or two. I’m not sure. But there’s a lot. But I thought it’d be nice – and maybe the start of an annual tradition – to showcase some of these trailers and give my impressions of what we should expect to see in the coming twelve months or so. To start, I’m going to admit that this…
