Back Where They Belong

I guess it’s a good news, bad news situation.  I’m almost always violently opposed to mega-mergers.  Especially when they involve media companies.  Consolidating media outlets means that our access to information gets choked even more than it already is.  Soon we will wind up with only a few billionaires deciding what thoughts and opinions are worthy of airtime.  When that happens, we are fucked. Cognizant of the dystopian future we are slouching towards, I must admit I am doing (figurative) handsprings over the news that Disney has gobbled up Fox. …

Saviturd (Spoiler Free…Mostly)

Despite the not too subtle Doctor Who joke, the season finale of The Flash had several plot points that leave me grousing.  I know, you’re all shocked, right?  Not so much that I couldn’t enjoy it, but come on, how hard is it to write with a tiny smidgen of logic?  I’ll start with the first and most glaring one… Savitar’s plan is complete foo.  He obviously hasn’t thought it through, despite having centuries in which to do so.  OK, how did he become Savitar in the first place?  By…

Circle The Hard-Ons

Let’s get one thing straight, right up front, media critics are, for the most part, cunts.  The professionals are mostly just frustrated wannabe screenwriters or, even worse, directors.  They want to be in the business so bad they can taste it.  The other half, the fanboys (hello, that’s me) spend their time bitching about how “Blah-Blah-Blah is not the movie I would have made.”  So, understand, they have all been sharpening their pens and buffing their hard-ons, waiting for Marvel to stumble.  At long last, the Marvel Netflix series, Iron…

2016 sucked. Apropos of nothing, here are my predictions for 2017. Misty Knight will be the new Captain America. By July, DC will be making noises about rebooting one of their major characters yet again. Bruce Banner will come back from the dead…again. Thanos will continue to be overused. Amadeus Cho will continue to be a tool. Moon Knight will continue to be brilliant…and then be cancelled. Doctor Strange will be cancelled by October. Kamala Khan will experience violent prejudice first hand.  My money says her brother gets attacked or…

The Color Stupid

I keep trying to explain to my stepson that prejudice is the product of ignorance, not stupidity.  It’s a Sisyphean task because bigots all look like numbskulls to him.  This month I have had to throw up my hands and watch all of my progress slide right down the shitter. Twitter has spoken and it seems that the Cracker Nation has a voice that is clear and strong…and undeniably stupid. Luke Cage, Marvel’s latest offering on Netflix has been an unqualified success.  At one point the demand for downloads actually…

You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down

After petitions, Twitter activism and much hand-wringing, it was announced that Peggy Carter, our favorite SSR Agent and founder of SHIELD, will be returning to television. But in a way no one would have expected. Disney and Marvel have released news of a single-episode appearance of Agent Carter in the animated series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble’s fourth season, entitled Avengers: Secret Wars. While there are not many details, it’s been revealed that she and Howard Stark (sadly, no Jarvis) will guest star in an episode described as “past and present collide” when…

This is the Harley Quinn story I’D like to see

I sometimes peruse an artist on DeviantArt whose name is Nebezial (link HERE). He does outstanding artistic renditions of DC and Marvel characters (among others), and I wonder whether he does it as true fan-art or if he’s developing a portfolio to approach one of these companies for work. I honestly hope he does, because he’d be an awesome addition to either company’s artistic bullpen. His art doesn’t change drastically between the intentionally funny to the dramatic. And he’s consistently good. Tonight, I was digging through his DA page and found…

Marvel Update

Well… If you’re like me, there were a couple of bits of disappointing news in the world of the MCU this week. I’ll be brief, or as brief as a verbose Kittenn such as myself can be. So here we go. First, my heartfelt dream of seeing Katee Sackhoff don the red, blue and gold of Captain Marvel was pretty much dashed at the announcement at SDCC that Brie Larson had indeed been cast in the role. Who knows? Maybe I’m wrong. She might be perfect for the role. And…
